I am foaming at the mouth to start streaming. What are the minimum computer specs, and connection speeds to have a crisp, good stream? I always thought the connection was all that mattered..

This is my connection, I know, I know :(

And my laptop Specs (my desktop has one more gb of ram, and a decent video card)

I know with that connection speed, it would be hard for a NASA computer to stream, but just wondering if anything can be done? I can stream games that are not fast paced, and shooters.. Like Skyrim, Minecraft, and Im getting SWTOR soon, and Im sure that will be fine as well. But, when it comes to FPS, the quality goes to crap.

Thanks

Your laptop will meet the very minimum requirements for a stream.

When i look to advise people about a setup it is easier to look at desktops as you have the room and cooling available for an internal cap card.

Basic specs I would be looking at is a 2nd gen intel processor ..ideally i5 and above, 8gb ram and a decent hdd to store any highlights.

Your main problem is your upload speed unfortunately. Killswitch is not happy with his 1mbps upload as it is laggy or the quality has to be turned right down. From looking around most streamers on twitch most run 5mbps or above to keep their streams clear and sharp.

I am sure there are others here with far more knowledge on streaming that will be able to give you a more definitve answer Vegas

Thanks Grey.. Id love to be able to stream FPS, or anything I want for that matter. The problem is my ISP is the only one in the county, and I already have the highest package that they offer. The computer side is no problem, if I have the connection, I could get the computer to run it. I hate that our county is left with only one provider. When everywhere you look, the connections are 10x's better for half the cost. I guess its a supply and demand thing. I'm trying to talk our local cable provider to run cable internet to my house lol... That would put me way over what I need. Until that happens,Ill have to keep streaming Skyrim, Minecraft, and Tiger Woods with Krindul lol... Thanks again for the reply..
