From what's been released on the game so far how many of you are thinking the game will be a success or fail in competitive gaming? will MLG let the Gears franchise back onto its circuit? Post your thoughts and opinions. As far as my opinion goes from what has been released so far the game looks like alot of fun but with some of the guns they're adding and the way they handled Gears 2 I have a feeling the competitive play in the game will be active at first but I'm just not sure how well balanced the game will be with the numerous starting weapons they're going to let us choose from so I'm going to say it won't be successfully competitively from what I've seen so far.

My personnel opinion, and I am all about Gears 3. I really dont think that MLG will bring it back to the MLG. They lost way to much money in Gears 2 MLG did. That is exactly what everyone said about Gears to it looks amazing, but when it came out it was nothing but a bunch of cry babies about everything. Cried about the hammerburst, cried about the Grenade, Cried, about the frag grenade, Cried about the 2-piece. It got so bad that it drove me completely away from playing the game.

I dont think there has been enough info brought out on Gears 3 to make that determination. We have to see what kind of weapons there are and what else. What kind of Lan setup they have etc.

People would've just tagged frags in competitive play so thats why they werent in Gears 2 competitive play. Hammerburst was too strong for competitive play as well especially with Stopping Power being in this game. That's why I and others have been pushing for Stopping Power to be reduced in Gears 3. They can cram all the crummy new sparkly weapons in the game they want as long as we're able to balance it out with all the little perks they add to the gameplay like Stopping Power.

I would like to see Gears 3 in MLG ,but it would just be the thing of WHO will pay for it.. Just like MW2 it was PCL for Xbox and PS3 ,but removed from Xbox ,because they weren't willing to pay like Psn. As Zilla said the with the loss of money it will be hard for it to get back in.

Well it would be good to see Gears 3 back in MLG, but I dont think it will happen. I have been keeping close track on what MLG is doing and it really looks as though they are going to stick wish Super Smash Brothers, and Tekken for a while. They are making a killing in money with them to games. I saw that they sold out of tickets for them. Remember Gears wouldnt sell out hardly ever so that is a big thing in the MLG curcuit, about the money brother.

Gears sold out amazingly when it first joined the circuit too. We'll see how well those fighter games hold out with time on their clock. Another thing is they're easier to fill up because they have 1v1s and dont require you to have teams of 4 like Gears of War. Another thing is Gears lost alot of its first wave of players that competed in early-mid Gears of War 1 and even more when Gears 2 was released because the overall gameplay while more complete and consistent then Gears 1 was considered boring and unexciting because of cheap tactics prevailing such as camping with Hammerbursts, slowing people down with the Stopping power being too strong as it is right now,and hard aiming with the Shotgun. Some maps were very exciting like Security where once a team was down a man the other team was relentless on pushing to shut them down before they got setup but when the fans lost interest thats when Gears was doomed along with its player count because there just weren't enough teams to even fill up the team slots. MLG did not support Gears with its full support though. The fact that they gave us 1 bench at MLG Orlando Championships even for the Finals is proof enough that they didnt care what happened to Gears. Had they not allowed us to get all the chairs from AM bracket most of us would've been sitting on the floor.

They can drop tekken and add gears or do gears online.

Both would be fine with the right staff.

I haven't played any of the Gears before but I think I might try this one out, it looks pretty cool.

The topic has been iffy lately. The thought of Gears of War 3 being put onto the pro circuit is amazing in my eyes. I loved when it was on the pro circuit but they problem with the game was. It wasn't made for competitive gaming it was made for the community.. so every title update was for online (ranked/public) Gears of War 3 on the other hand has been endorsed by MLG since the beginning working hand in hand with Epic. Every thought of the game now is how can we improve competitive play BEFORE we change the entire game. Gears of War 2 before all the title updates was PERFECT.. once they took out smokes came TU6 and the game changed forever driving the community away. The reason that MLG took GoW2 off of the Pro circuit was due to the lack of sales meaning the Team passes.. If only the top teams show up then there is no point to continue with it.. towards the end of the season they were only getting MAYBE 50 teams..

Gears of War 3 is most definately going to be on the Pro Circuit in 2012 and will change the competitive scene even more than starcraft ;)
But with other tournaments like HypeFestation if MLG doesn't pick it up then we are still having bigger tournaments the community is finally taking initiative and moving forward.

Also, Pre Season 2012 Gears of War 3 will have online qualifiers for MLG or PCL ladders to give seeding points to teams.

Good points envy but the big picture is really in the developers hands... Cliffy B has to invest in gears to the pro circuit or it will not be added. Also all updates that happens to the game online has to take affect on LAN.
